How to use .env to json converter
- Paste .env assignments rather than shell commands.
- Parse quoted values, comments, and optional export prefixes.
- Review the JSON object; every environment value remains a string.
What to know about the result
- Uses a Node-compatible literal .env subset: comments, export prefixes, quoted multiline strings, and double-quoted \n line breaks. Variables are strings; $ references remain literal.
- No shell evaluation or variable interpolation occurs. Duplicate assignments use the last value. Escaped quotes and ambiguous encodings are rejected.
- Sensitive values remain in the local output. Use .env Example Generator to produce a template with all values removed.
