JWT Decoder

Inspect a JWT header and payload as JSON with an explicit reminder that decoding does not verify the signature.

Developers troubleshooting token claims without treating pasted tokens as authenticated.

Free to use. Your inputs are processed in this browser and are not included in usage analytics.

Paste the token only, without the Bearer prefix.

How to use jwt decoder

  1. Paste a three-part JWT for inspection.
  2. Decode its base64url header and payload.
  3. Use your server's JWT library to verify signatures and required claims before trusting the token.

What to know about the result

  • The output is unverified. This tool has no signing key and does not authenticate the token.
  • Tokens are processed locally. Encrypted five-part JWE tokens are not supported.
