How to use json to .env converter
- Paste a flat JSON object whose values are all strings.
- Convert to assignments with quotes where comments or whitespace require them.
- Review the local .env file before adding it to your runtime configuration.
What to know about the result
- Uses a Node-compatible literal .env subset: comments, export prefixes, quoted multiline strings, and double-quoted \n line breaks. Variables are strings; $ references remain literal.
- No shell evaluation or variable interpolation occurs. Duplicate assignments use the last value. Escaped quotes and ambiguous encodings are rejected.
- Valid names use letters, digits, and underscores and cannot start with a digit. Nested objects, nonstring values, NUL, and carriage returns are rejected.
- Values that cannot round-trip within the documented literal quoting subset produce an explicit error rather than altered output.
