JSON Schema Subset Validator

Check JSON against a clearly limited JSON Schema subset and report pointer paths for validation errors.

Developers checking small payload contracts without a full schema library.

Free to use. Your inputs are processed in this browser and are not included in usage analytics.

Unsupported keywords produce an error; see the supported keywords below.

How to use json schema subset validator

  1. Paste the instance and a schema using the documented subset.
  2. Run validation; unsupported schema features are rejected before instance checking.
  3. Review the valid flag and JSON Pointer paths in the error list.

What to know about the result

  • Supported validation keywords: type, properties, required, additionalProperties, items, enum, const, minimum, maximum, minLength, maxLength, minItems, and maxItems. Boolean schemas and annotations are supported.
  • Only JSON Schema 2020-12 is supported. Unsupported keywords, including $ref, pattern, format, and combinators, are rejected everywhere. This is a subset validator, not a complete JSON Schema implementation.
  • String lengths count Unicode code points. Enum and const comparisons use structural equality with object key order ignored. Reports include at most 100 errors.
